POSITION OVERVIEW

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform location surveys and cycle counts. Issue clothing, bunker gear, supplies, and firefighting equipment adhering to all tracking specifications required. Learn and utilize inventory system in SAP. Pull, sort and pack items for transfer, distribution and delivery. Properly document all transactions. Stock and maintain inventory in row/bin locations. Be open to work in all areas of the distribution center in line with the philosophy of cross-training in various areas. Provide high level of customer service at the counter and over the phone with an outgoing and positive attitude. Will be responsible for following the guidelines for NFPA and PPE.
WORKING CONDITIONS
There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions. The position involves considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting of heavy objects (up to 80 pounds) on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a high school diploma or GED. May require a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three months of inventory control, materials management, record keeping or clerical experience is required. May require experience in operating a forklift and other motorized or non-motorized materials handling equipment.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Valid Texas Driver’s License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2)

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
