Nabors QA/QC Technician II in Houston, Texas

JOB SUMMARY

The QC Inspector is responsible for the Quality Control and compliance of product within the QA/QC Inspection department in accordance with current manufacturing/assembly and quality assurance procedures; and engineering drawing(s).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect components and products both in house and at vendors/customer sites.

  • Perform receiving inspection, 100%-dimensional inspection and final inspection of parts and documents per applicable codes and Nabors specs prior to shipping parts.

  • Complete breakdown documentation of inspections for various products (top drive, Torque Wrench, Mast, Traveling Blocks, Mud Pumps etc.) in conjunction with Nabors repair Shops technician.

  • Create Build Book, Data Book, and Re-Cert Books when needed.

  • Initiating and resolving non-conformance reports as required.

  • Witness selected non-destructive examination.

  • Liaise with engineering, repair shops, vendors, and third-party inspectors as required.

  • Ensure compliance with QA and HSE policies and procedures at all times.

  • Review and approve vendor QC documentation and create traceability report.

  • Review Quality control records.

  • Work with various Nabors departments, vendors, and customers to carry out detail root cause investigation and corrective action implementation.

  • Work with quality, engineering and HSE team to create inspection test plan.

  • Special projects as assigned.

  • Other ad-hoc duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • 3 years’ experience as a QA/QC Technician.

  • Previous QC dimensional inspection and documentation review experience in a production/manufacturing and a machining/fabrication environment is required.

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Working knowledge of API Q1 and ISO 9001 Standards and procedural compliance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Machinist, Millwright, Journeyman welder or in a related discipline.

  • Welding visual inspection certification (AWS or equivalent).

BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES

  • Strong organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail with document controls.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, handling multiple projects of competing priority and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to identify process improvement.

  • Ability to be flexible to accommodate ad-hoc urgent work priorities.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to understand written work-related documents, including engineering drawings, Bill of Materials, and Industry Code/Standards.

  • Knowledge of techniques for inspection, testing and examination.

  • Knowledge of API Spec 8C, ASTM, ASNT, NACE, AWS, and ASME codes and standards.

  • Skills in the use of Microsoft Office packages, including Outlook.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Domestic and international travel may be required. (need valid passport and driver license)
