Robert Half Revenue/Regulatory Accountant in Houston, Texas

Description

Leading Upstream Oil & Gas Company is seeking a highly skilled Regulatory & Revenue Accountant to join the team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in royalty and severance tax, particularly within the states of Colorado (CO) and New Mexico (NM). Additionally, experience dealing with state and federal taxes involving various tribes is essential. Proficiency in SAP is preferred.

Regulatory Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Prepare and file regulatory reports and tax returns for royalty and severance taxes in CO and NM.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and ensure the company’s adherence to these changes.

  • Accurately record and reconcile revenue transactions.

  • Calculate and remit royalty payments to stakeholders, including government entities, private landowners, and tribes.

  • Handle state and federal tax filings, with a focus on CO and NM regulations.

  • Manage tax obligations related to dealings with various tribes.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on revenue trends.

  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits.

    Requirements

Regulatory Accountant Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • CPA or other relevant professional certification preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in regulatory and revenue accounting within the upstream oil and gas industry.

  • In-depth knowledge of royalty and severance tax regulations in Colorado and New Mexico.

  • Experience working with tax obligations involving various tribes.

  • Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws as they pertain to the oil and gas industry.

  • Proficiency in SAP is preferred.
