Sinclair Broadcast Group Payroll Tax Analyst in Hunt Valley, Maryland

As a Payroll Tax Analyst at Sinclair, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our employees are paid accurately and on time. The ideal candidate will have experience processing multi-state payroll taxes for a large organization in a multi-state environment while maintaining strict compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. Your keen eye for detail and meticulous approach to data entry will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of our payroll systems and records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates timely and accurate tax deposits and filings for payroll taxes on a daily, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

  • Assist in the periodic and quarterly payroll tax audits.

  • Analyze, validate, and assist with correcting all variances.

  • Preparation and filing of quarterly Multiple Worksite Reporting.

  • Collect necessary documentation for all audit requests.

  • Assist in resolving IRS, State, and Local payroll tax notices and exceptions using ADP SmartCompliance and works closely with ADP to respond to related inquiries.

  • Responds to W-2 inquiries current year and previous years.

  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining productivity and leading analysis and providing status updates to the Supervisor of Payroll Tax.

  • Tracks receipt of state unemployment insurance rate and performs systematic updates.

  • Apply and register for new state SUI and Withholding Tax accounts for new locations, FEINs, as needed.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, Finance, and IT, to streamline payroll tax processes, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.

  • Provide exceptional customer service by promptly responding to employee inquiries related to payroll tax deductions.

  • Prepare payroll tax journal entries based on payroll tax funding.

  • Assist in preparing various tax returns and reporting not filed by ADP, including other required government reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in corporate payroll processing, including experience with large employee populations.

  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

  • Proficient in using payroll software and systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and levels of the organization.

  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality of payroll information.

  • Experience in Excel and ADP a plus.

This position is not a remote position and requires 5 days in the office at our Corporate Headquarters in Hunt Valley, MD.
