Jacobs ESSCA Group Design and Development Engineer #ADV0008TD in Huntsville, Alabama

The Valves, Actuators, Lines, and Ducts Propulsion Team is seeking a Senior or Subject Matter Expert Engineer for In-Space Tank Design and Development.

Activities may include but not be limited to:

Provide Point of Contact (POC) leadership for in-space propulsion system tanks and Composite Overwrap Pressure Vessels (COPV).

Provide oversight or insight support for commercial partner tank and COPV designs during reviews and other activities.

Create or review tank/COPV specifications as it relates to your Insight role with commercial partners.

Create test plans and oversee tank qualification testing as needed.

Analyze test data and create performance/feedback reports to commercial partners.

Work with Purchasing to provide technical expertise regarding tank specifications during the procurement process.

Be a proactive member of a technical team providing input in the area of your expertise with the end goal of landing humans, once again, on the Lunar surface.

Job Requirements:

A degree in Engineering or related (STEM) field is required. A degree from an ABET-accredited university is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D. with a minimum 9 years of experience; MS with at least 13 years of experience, or a BS with at least 15 years of experience.

Required Experience / Skills:

This position is focused primarily on COPV designs supporting NASAs Human Landing System Program. You will be part of a technical team and provide leadership for COPV development by providing insight/oversight in this area with our commercial partners. Must have experience and knowledge of composite and liner materials used in the manufacture of COPVs and be familiar with Industry Standards governing the design and qualification testing of these vessels. COPV qualification testing in a lab environment is a plus.

Desired Experience / Skills:

Knowledge and experience with aerospace tank design for smaller pressure fed systems. This includes metal tanks containing either cryogenic or storable propellants.

Knowledge of aerospace pressure vessel industry standards.

Experience with rocket propellants, either cryogenic fluids or storable propellants.

Valve design knowledge using propellant or pressurant fluids used in rocket propulsion.

Familiar with Propellant Management Devices (PMD) used in microgravity applications with Slosh Analysis experience being a plus.

Knowledge of NASA and/or aerospace design and construction standards.

CAD experience, CREO preferred.
