Internal Job Title : Senior Software Architect

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Location: 18 Auriga Drive , Ottawa ON

Work Model: Hybrid (2-3 days /week on-site)

Position Summary

As a Senior Software Architect in our Driver and Vehicle group , you will be responsible for shaping the technical design and direction of our next-generation so ftware systems .

    What You Will Do

  • Lead the architectural design and implementation of microservices-based solutions ;

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and develop scalable, high-performance software solutions ;

  • Evaluate existing systems and propose innovative approaches to modernize and optimize them for containerized deployments ;

  • Design and implement robust APIs and communication protocols to enable seamless integration between microservices ;

  • Drive best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment automation within the development team ;

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement ;

  • Stay up to date with the latest technologies and industry trends, advocating for their adoption where appropriate ; and

  • Various other duties and responsibilities.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge and Experience

  • Master ’s degree in Computer Science/E ngineering (or similar) or equivalent combination of education and years of relevant work experience

  • AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect and/or Kubernetes Application Developer Certifications are as sets, but not required

  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience with AWS or Azure SaaS and multi-tenancy

  • Knowledge of domain driven design (DDD) principles and event driven architecture (EDA)

  • Knowledge of software design principles, patterns, and best practices

  • Understanding of security principles, standards , and compliance

  • 10 + years of experience designing , deploying, managing and optimizing modern software architectures, including microservices , containerization , and cloud- optimiz ation

  • E xperience modernizing and migrating legacy systems

  • Experience with cloud-native technologies, modern API technologies, programming, relational/non-relational databases

  • Experience with Agile ( SCRUM ), DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline s

    Technical Skills

  • Cloud Platforms: Azure, AWS

  • Containerization: Docker , Kubernetes and Terraform

  • Security : SOC2, ISO, NIST, etc.

  • Database: RDBMS (MySQL, PostgreSQL), NoSQL and DBaaS

  • Programming/Coding : Java, Python

  • Standards /Protocols : HTTPS, Web API ( REST) , JSON, XML

  • Development Pipeline/ Methodologies: Version control , Automated t esting, Agile /Scrum , DevOps, and CI/CD

  • Principles/ P aradigms : Decomposition, Microservices, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Event-Driven Architecture (EDA)

    Mandatory Requirements

  • Fluency in English

  • Ability to travel domestically /internationally approx. 6 weeks/ year

    Security Clearance Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Secret (Level II) personal security clearance.
