Lilly Senior Principal Scientist - Automation in Indianapolis, Indiana

An automation scientist in the Analytical Sciences and Quality Control Operations (AQCO) organization is responsible for deploying new technologies to modernize and improve analytical analyses for testing in a clinical and manufacturing environment. The scientist will be responsible for executing automation installations and will be an integral part of multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Provide analytical support and/or technical direction as needed for the automation team and projects.

  • Actively partner and collaborate with Quality Control Subject Matter Experts, Lab Informatics, Quality Assurance, and Information Digital Services.

  • Complete computer system installation and verification including Windows and application software security and electronic records configuration (including laboratory testing work, method transfer, change controls, and regulatory submissions).

  • Implement new technologies in the labs and improve existing methodologies.

  • Influence development and QC laboratories to use new technologies for product/process monitoring and control.

  • Openly share key technical developments including contributions to internal/external scientific forums.

  • Ensure all safety, quality and regulatory requirements follow standards and agencies such as ISO, cGMP, and FDA.

  • Ensure all appropriate GMP documentation is completed for automation installation at Quality Control laboratories.

  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure consistent practices between global laboratories.

  • Mentor technical talent.

  • Effectively manage multiple projects.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Engineering, Biology, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in laboratory automation.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Industry-related experience in pharmaceuticals is preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing various tools, systems, and processes resulting in improved operational excellence of laboratory and business operations (i.e., ServiceNow, Kneat, Customer Management Tools).

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to customers, business partners, and staff including good oral, written, and visual presentations.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply solutions to different situations by understanding customer needs and applying strong problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting GMP environment including but not limited to analytical instrument computer system validation.

  • Ability to influence diverse groups and effectively manage relationships.

  • Thorough technical understanding of the quality systems and regulatory requirements.

Additional Information:

  • The Automation Scientist must complete the Learning Plan for the analytical scientist.

  • Some travel (up to 20%) may be incurred.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$111,000 - $162,800

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
