At Montage International, the Director of Labor Management is responsible for ensuring accurate reporting, budgeting and evaluation of labor productivity management within the Montage and Pendry Hotels and Resorts. In addition, the position will drive accountability across the organization through complete visibility of department, property and portfolio labor costs, identifying potential issues and risks in advance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the Labor Management strategy to improve net operating income through applying robust labor management principles and systems.

  • Manage the Labor Management System (LMS) and ensure the necessary tools are in place to reduce labor costs while enhancing a balance with guest service expectations.

  • Create Labor Standards and manage execution, ensuring they are integrated with forecasting, payroll and timekeeping.

  • Develop robust reporting for leaders to review and use to update and modify labor schedules in real-time and meet performance objectives on a daily basis, addressing opportunities, mitigating risks, and seeking guidance when needed.

  • Utilize data and analytics to inform and optimize strategy, influence business partners and senior leaders, and understand market trends to inform decisions.

  • Conduct internal and external benchmarking, highlighting potential operational efficiencies and improve both operational quality and costs.

  • Review daily/weekly/monthly productivity metrics and identify opportunities to ensure adequate staffing level based on volumes.

  • Prepare monthly productivity reports for the operations team. Highlight the trends and areas of opportunity and proposed solutions to identified challenges.

  • Assist with the implementation of the Labor Management System for any new properties.

  • Participate in the property's weekly/monthly labor productivity meetings.

  • Partner with the development team in developing the optimal staffing plans for Pre-Opening budget and Proformas.

  • Train leaders on Labor Management systems and processes including demand forecasting to ensure accurate data is uploaded to the labor system.

  • Collaborate with the key stakeholders to drive labor efficiency, whilst maintaining service expectations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 4+ years progressive leadership experience in luxury hospitality, including Labor Management.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Experience in leading Labor Management standards and systems

  • Exceptional ability to develop strong relationships, lead, influence and prioritize action plans.

  • Self-starter and self-manager.

  • Must have the ability to balance multiple concurrent projects with varying degrees of priority.

  • Must have knowledge of labor management benchmarks and demand-based labor scheduling.

  • Strong professional demeanor using good judgment and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

  • Exceptional communication skills to cultivate and manage effective internal and external relationships.

  • Strong technical skills, proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required; familiarity with Workday recruitment and diversity preferred.

  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Proven ability to develop and motivate leaders to action.

  • Passion for continuously improving the experience of our associates.

  • Ability to travel 25%

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Most work tasks are performed indoors. Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 5 hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day. This may include traveling to and from meetings, as well as travel to properties for on-site installation support as required.

The pay scale for the Director, Labor Management is from $102,000.00 to 127,000.00. The pay scale is the base salary or hourly wage range, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, gratuities, and the like, that Montage reasonably expects to pay for the position.
