About this role:
Wells Fargo & Company is seeking an experienced attorney to join the Cards and Merchant Services Section as an Assistant General Counsel - VP within the Legal Department. The individual selected will join a team of legal professionals responsible for providing legal support to the Merchant Services business line.
In this role, you will:
Primary responsibilities will involve coordinating and communicating across cross-disciplinary teams of attorneys, risk and compliance partners, and line of business clients on multiple high-level projects and initiatives.
Be responsible for providing advice and guidance on various federal and state regulations and laws impacting the Merchant Services group, as well as analyzing the corresponding policies, standards, and procedures.
Expertly handle matters (including the negotiation of contracts) that have a significant impact on the Company's operations, strategies, or profitability.
Develop relationships with and provide guidance to Legal Department senior leadership, executive officers, and senior business leadership across the Company on issues that may present legal, regulatory, compliance, or reputational risk to the Company.
Take an active role in the education, training, and mentoring of less senior Legal Department team members.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with credit, debit, and other payment card acquiring, including direct and indirect (e.g. sponsorship/ISO channel) sales arrangements.
Experience with credit card/debit card network rules and regulations.
Experience with federal and/or state licensing or acquiring and/or money transmitter rules and regulations.
Experience with BSA/AML, OFAC. KYC and other financial crimes requirements.
Experience with merchant services/financial product development and implementation.
Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including merchant agreements, licensing agreements, statements of work, and NDAs
Experience advising senior management on changes in laws and regulations.
Ability to evaluate impacts based on changes in laws/regulations and develop company response.
Experience developing and executing appropriate solutions to complex problems.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Ability to collaborate inside and outside of the legal department.
Ability to motivate, communicate, delegate and enable confidence in others.
Ability to take an active role in the education, mentoring and training of less experienced team members.
Legal project management experience.
Job Expectations:

Ability to work a hybrid schedule (in office at least 3 days a week) at one of our approved job posting locations.
Ability to travel up to 5%.
Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$144,400.00 - $300,000.00
