BCForward is currently looking for a highly motivated Laboratory Technician at Indianapolis, IN 46268!

Position Title: Laboratory Technician

Location: Indianapolis, IN 46268

Anticipated Start Date: 7/29/2024

Expected Duration: 12 Months

Job Type: [FULL TIME (\>=40 HRS WEEKLY)/ [CONTRACT], [ON-SITE]

Pay Range:[\$20] /hr on w2

Please note that actual compensation may vary within this range due to factors such as location, experience, and job responsibilities, and does not encompass additional non-standard compensation (e.g., benefits, paid time off, per diem, etc.).

Shift/Schedule:

Work shift 7:00am - 3:30pm Mon-Fri

Requirements:

  • Self-driven individual that also works well in a diverse group setting.

  • Flexibility to shift focus throughout the day as needed to meet customer demands.

  • Willing to work independently and with a team as needed. Self-initiated and desire to learn

  • Strong communication and time management skills

  • Ability to follow directions and protocols

  • Must have work experience

    Description:

{=html} <!-- --> - With guidance from supervision, assists technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research.

  • Perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the work group.

    Wanted:

{=html} <!-- --> - Individual capable of working with insects, plant material, and nematodes while completing routine, highly detailed work.

  • Previous laboratory experience preferred. Work environments vary throughout the day between laboratory, greenhouse, and insectary colonies.

  • Strong culture of safety requires individuals to adhere to all safety and ergonomic standards.

  • Extensive training in safety, ergonomics, and laboratory SOPs provided.

  • Basic tasks may include:

  • Clipping/thinning plants used in testing.

  • Hands-on infesting of plant and artificial diet material with various (non-stinging, non-hazardous) insect species.

  • Routine assay formulation using manual pipettes.

  • Specialized assay application using hand sprayers and track sprayers.

  • Laboratory maintenance (cleaning, restocking, etc.).

  • Grading insect assays.

  • Preparation of media used in entomology testing.

  • Scribing for evaluators
