Key Responsibilities

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a dynamic, results driven person to join as Health and Safety Specialist at our Manufacturing Plant in Izmir.

• Continuously improve health, safety, and environmental conditions.

• Collaborate in managing the Environmental Management System.

• Communicate and implement safe work procedures.

• Ensure compliance with safety and cleanliness standards at the workstation.

• Participate in setting objectives for the Energy, Environment, Health, and Safety Management System.

• Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the Energy, Environment, Health, and Safety Management System.

• Ensure adherence to environmental, safety, health, and energy standards, policies, and practices according to the level of responsibility.

• Plan and execute waste shipments in compliance with ESBAS Free Zone rules.

• Manage hazardous materials in consultation with a Hazardous Material Safety Consultant.

• Oversee subcontractor management.

• Provide legally required occupational health training.

• Conduct periodic inspections of all equipment within the scope of control (e.g., lifting equipment, pressure vessels, fire systems, etc.).

• Develop emergency plans and lead drills in collaboration with the Emergency Coordinator.

• Organize Occupational Health and Safety Board meetings.

• Manage and coordinate the Health Office and healthcare professionals.

• Support risk analysis and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) training activities at the plant.

• Perform root cause analysis of work accidents and coordinate with Human Resources for legal reporting.

• Coordinate health checks and ergonomic activities with the Occupational Physician and HR Department.

Education & Experiences

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.

• Strong previous experience in construction supervision.

• Certification as a Class B Occupational Safety Expert (Class A preferred)

• In-depth knowledge of workplace safety and health regulations.

• Strong expertise in property and facilities management processes.

• Proficient in energy systems management.

• Extensive understanding of manufacturing processes.

• Excellent organizational and planning abilities.

• Well-versed in quality management systems.

• Familiarity with environmental procedures and systems.

• Competency in machine repair, welding, electrical and plumbing principles, building codes and standards, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC).
