Position Summary

Tactical Air is currently seeking a Lead Systems Engineer. The ideal candidate for the Lead Systems Engineer position is vital to Tactical Air's ongoing viability and performance by ensuring production and availability of CAS aircraft. The Lead Systems Engineer will be responsible to execute engineering design, development, testing, and analysis of aircraft and structures to include U.S. Navy F-5N+/F+ series aircraft. This position will communicate and collaborate with aircraft maintenance, pilots, engineering team members, and program management in support of mission systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform configuration management responsibilities for aircraft components and systems, with respect to engineering drawings and substantiation documentation.

  • Able to apply concepts and define and implement hardware and software configuration management processes to create product build scripts and procedures and integrate scripts with the build process.

  • Ensure proper use of development configuration management tools (e.g., Solidworks PDM).

  • Ensure version control of releases and maintain status updates of build plans and processes.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to provide information to colleagues, customers, co-workers, or other stakeholders (internal and external) utilizing various communication formats and tools, and exhibiting appropriate body language and listening skills, with emphasis on sharing or transmitting technical information with clarity and accuracy. Ability to remain calm under pressure and be adaptable.

  • Electronic drawing design and block diagram layout experience and skill.

  • Knowledgeable in commercial and military contracts with the ability to perform requirements breakdown and validation.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of five years' experience in aerospace, defense, or federal contractor industry with background of updating and modifying aircraft and aircraft systems.

  • Ability to utilize forensic approach to challenges or problems.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in electronic drawing design and block diagram layout.

  • Strong computer skills with ability to utilize various software and applications (Microsoft Office 365/GCC High preferred) for creating documents and reports, spreadsheets, presentations, publications; web-based applications for organizing work, communications, or data entry; virtual office/cloud-based file sharing; computer-aided drawing tools; project management applications (Smartsheet preferred).

  • Ability to properly handle classified materials, manage files, and maintain records in compliance with standard or required recordkeeping practices.

  • Valid state driver's license.

  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD security clearance.

    Desired Experience/Skills

  • Current U. S. Government Secret clearance preferred.

  • Master's Degree

    Physical Demands

  • Regular use of hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects or controls; reaching with hands and arms.

  • Regularly ascend/descend stairs and/or ladders.

    Work Authorization and Environment

  • Must be lawfully eligible to work in the United States and complete a U.S. government I-9 Form.
