The Public Works Department is actively seeking a Traffic Engineering Operations Manager.

This position reports to the Chief of Traffic Engineering and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Traffic Engineering Divisions’ roadway signs, pavement marking, traffic signal and warehouse sections.
Examples of Work
Responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of traffic control devices, including signs, pavement markings and traffic signals, railroad crossing signals and streetlights that are required for operating the streets and highways of the City of Jacksonville.
Assists in management of traffic engineering projects, programs and activities.
Develops and/or reviews plans and specifications by engineering consultants for traffic signals, pavement markings and roadway lighting systems.
Assists with the planning, programming, coordination, operations and maintenance of traffic systems, capital improvement programs and related projects.
Provides leadership and support for the Traffic department.
Assists in coordinating the efforts of various government agencies concerned with streets and highways in Duval County to ensure smooth, efficient work effort.
Attends meetings related to traffic issues such as traffic studies, signs, signals, etc.
Reviews, evaluates, negotiates and resolves disputes.
Demonstrates leadership, assigns responsibility, takes corrective action, and evaluates, develops and motivates employees.
Communicates clear direction, managing for results and leading organizational change.
Performs related duties as required.

OPEN REQUIREMENTS:
- Three years of traffic engineering experience in a responsible charge.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
Must be a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida or, if registered as a Professional Engineer in another state, must secure Florida registration within one year of appointment.
A valid driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class.
Must quality for prior to appointment, obtain and maintain during employment, a City of Jacksonville Public Driver Certification.
