Queen's Health System Nurse Aide - Kohala Home Health (Big Island, Call-In) in Kamuela, Hawaii

RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under the supervision of assigned supervisor/manager, provides high quality patient care including documentation in accordance with hospital policies/protocols and standards of care.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: All required, designated by frequency.

• Speaking, seeing, hearing, finger dexterity, standing.

• Continuous: Walking, stooping, forward reaching, handling.

• Frequent: Lifting up to 2 pounds.

• Occasional: pushing/pulling maximum 50 pounds of force, lifting and carrying up to maximum 20 pounds, kneeling, crouching.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

• Occasional exposure to safety hazards, diseases, or contamination.

• Exposure to body fluids and wastes; hazards from electrical.

• Works with mechanical/power equipment; subjected to injury from moving parts of equipment.

• May perform emergency care.

• Subjected to many interruptions and variables throughout the day.

• Required Personal Protective Equipment: Eye protection, gown, mask, non-sterile or sterile medical gloves, booties and bonnet.

• Must have access to a motor vehicle. Meets and complies with qualifications set forth in QNHCH Fleet/Motor Vehicle Policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, both orally and in writing.

• Minimum one (1) year work experience as a Nurse Aide; or,

o Diploma or certificate as a Nurse Aide.

o Diploma or certificate as a Medical Assistant.

o Diploma or certificate as an Emergency Medical Technician.

o Diploma or certificate as Patient Care Technician.

o Nursing student having completed a semester of clinical fundamentals; or,

o RN with a foreign RN license with at least (1) year acute care experience.

• Nurse Aide certification may be required depending upon area of assignment.

• Valid U.S. driver’s license required in accordance with Hawaii state law rules and regulations.

• Driver’s abstract or evidence of good driving record.

• Current BLS certification.

EXPERIENCE:

• Recent experience in an acute care setting preferred.
