Actalent Drafter in Kansas City, Missouri

Job Title: DrafterJob Description

We are seeking a skilled Drafter to join our dynamic team. The Drafter will report directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and will be assigned to specific projects under the supervision of the Mechanical Design Engineer or Mechanical Project Engineer. The Drafter will be responsible for creating clear and precise fabrication detail drawings and installation layouts based on project scope, specifications, and estimates. This role requires the incorporation of standards and specifications into drawings, effective communication with vendors, subcontractors, and other departments, and thorough self-checking of drawings for accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Create clear and precise fabrication detail drawings and installation layouts based on project scope, specifications, and estimates.

  • Include purchase components and fabrication material call outs on drawings.

  • Incorporate customer, local, state, and national codes and safety regulations into drawings.

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with vendors and subcontractors for the purchase and fabrication of mechanical components.

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with other departments including sales/estimators, project management, fabrication, safety, and installation.

  • Check drawings for thoroughness and accuracy, including self-checking one’s own drawings.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in Inventor and AutoCAD

  • Understanding of machine design and mechanical mechanisms

  • Knowledge of fabrication processes including part fabrication, welding, and assembly

  • Ability to travel to jobsites for field measurements and assist in installation, start-up, and debugging equipment (less than 25%)

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associates of engineering/design or equivalent

  • CAD Certification

  • Mathematically inclined with knowledge of fractions, percentages, and ratios

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and influence others

  • Detail-oriented personality with a self-starter attitude

  • Positive attitude and willingness to drive change and improve existing processes

Work Environment

In-house dress code includes dress slacks and a polo, while on-site attire requires steel toes, jeans, and a polo. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $36.00/hr.
