Trustmark is seeking a Senior Applications Solutions Engineer to act as a technical strategic partner to business leaders and IT leadership, supporting the HR and Finance Shared Service teams. This role involves owning the end-to-end technical roadmaps for Trustmark's Workday systems technologies.

This is a hybrid role with 3 days at our campus in Lake Forest, IL, and 2 days remote.

Position Summary:

In this position, the Senior Applications Solutions Engineer for HR and Finance (Workday) will be responsible for steering the design and implementation of systems and solutions specifically tailored for Trustmark's Workday-based shared service functions . The role requires working intimately with Trustmark’s business leaders, IT executives, and external partners to ensure that the technology strategies align with the company's goals and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the HR and Finance Shared Service teams.

Key Functions:

  • Developing an in-depth understanding of the HR and Finance Workday systems and the business processes they enable, to review current technical capabilities and process effectiveness, assess opportunities and needs, and inform, advise, and own the technical elements of the Workday services.

  • Leading technical requirements gathering sessions with the HR and Finance leadership teams, understanding business capabilities, developing, and communicating high-level detailed design solutions for complex requirements, driving proof of concepts, defining technical roadmaps and strategies, aligning to IT best practices and priorities.

  • Acting as a subject matter expert in Workday shared service technologies, tracking advancement of alternative and emerging solutions, conducting market scans, and championing adoption of relevant new solutions through partnering with businesses and IT stakeholders.

  • Collaborating with cross functional business, application development support, architecture, IT, and shared service teams on the design implementation of applications.

  • Collaborating with users to incorporate feedback and influence the application/product design and functionality.

  • Overseeing and directing 3rd party/vendor/offshore/managed service provider contracting teams and internal stakeholders from the project initiation through to the effective and timely execution of the hands-on technical work ensuring adherence to compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements, resulting in consistent and reliable service delivery.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6+ years relevant experience in engineering and/or applications development OR a high school diploma or equivalent and 8 years relevant experience.

  • Experience partnering directly with and advising non-technical senior business leaders as a technical subject matter expert, including assessing, evaluating, and prioritizing shared service Workday solutions to support business needs to drive best practices.

  • Experience understanding business capabilities and as input to develop and drive strategic technology roadmaps- leading technical requirements gathering with business and IT partners, developing, and communicating high-level detailed design solutions for complex requirements, driving proof of concepts, and defining technical roadmaps and strategies that assess for risk and alignment to IT best practices.

  • Demonstrated ability delegating, monitoring, and evaluating the hands-on technical execution of work completed by both internal and vendor-based/3rd party/managed service provider teams, directly owning solutions to ensure time, productivity, quality, and best practice standards are met to ensure successful project completion.

  • Experience leading Workday technology solutions, including leading implementations and integrations.

  • Experience with cloud technologies (Azure and/or AWS and/or Google Cloud).

  • Experience with APIs, SaaS, PaaS

  • Experience with Dev Ops

  • Experience with SDLC Automation

  • Experience leading via Agile and/or Waterfall
