Job Description
We are seeking aElectricn al Engineer to lead and design the electrical power distribution network for Gas Turbine projects. This role involves working with various electrical equipment such as MCCs, LV and MV motors, Lighting and Power Distribution Panels, LV Transformers, DC Systems, Variable Speed Drives, UPS, AC/DC rectifier systems, and backup power systems. The ideal candidate will ensure that the electrical system is designed safely and efficiently according to our electrical standards.
Responsibilities
Interpret and integrate design requirements from parent company or customer per contract specifications.
Interpret and design per code requirements from the authority having jurisdiction over a project’s electrical installation.
Collaborate with other disciplines to integrate electrical equipment.
Develop and/or review electrical component specifications, and work with electrical system vendors to integrate components, equipment, and systems into plants.
Prepare and/or review purchase specs for electrical equipment and select vendors to construct electrical packages.
Perform and/or review calculations for sizing equipment, cables/conduits, illumination levels, and other design duties.
Generate and/or review electrical drawing packages including single-line diagrams, panelboard schedules, electrical loads lists, motors lists, wiring diagrams, control schematics, cable schedules, and terminations schedules.
Develop and/or review electrical, control, and instrumentation wiring diagrams and cable lists generated by SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) or SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) designers.
Identify opportunities to simplify and standardize product designs for improved manufacturability and cost reduction without compromising quality.
Meet regularly with vendors to ensure all technical and schedule requirements are met.
Interpret and respond to technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel.
Use SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL), SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), and SmartPlant 3D (S3D) to design electrical power and control systems.
Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, reporting all unsafe activities.
Contribute to building a positive team spirit and communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
Develop schedules, coordinate, and manage design projects of all sizes with minimal supervision.
Provide technical support during manufacturing and commissioning of equipment.
Lead junior engineers, designers, and interns, supporting their development.
Travel up to 10%.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum ten (10) years of technical and/or practical experience in industrial facility power distribution design.
Strong familiarity with National Electric Code NFPA 70.
Knowledge of NEMA, IEC, IEEE, ISA, ANSI, NFPA 70E, UL, CSA, TUV, and other codes and standards.
Experience with equipment such as MCCs, LV and MV motors, Lighting and Power Distribution Panels, LV Transformers, DC Systems, Variable Speed Drives, UPS, AC/DC rectifier systems, and backup power systems.
Proficiency in SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL), SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), SmartPlant 3D (S3D), AutoCAD, and ETAP.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Gas or Steam Turbines and associated generators (150 MVA ratings and above) is preferred.
Familiarity with electrical design for industrial facilities; power plant experience is a plus.
Inclination towards computer programming languages is highly encouraged.
Experience with SmartSketch and Revit 3D or another comparable 3D electrical design tool.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.00 - $70.00/hr.
