Job Description

This position is a legislative priority pursuant to the 2023 Public Act 1. As a recognized resource, this position functions as an in-service human resources developer independently responsible for the coordination of the in-service Job Task Analysis (JTA) in support of continuing professional education. The JTA HRD determines the core tasks of a basic law enforcement officer, the analysis of the level of law enforcement agency compliance based on agency audits, assist with the analysis of the basic academy training curriculum and courseware based on onsite observations and feedback from field training officers (FTOs), the accreditation of basic and in-service training based on the analysis of academic rigor as compared to secondary educational standards, and to analyze training development and maintenance requirements for the Recognition of Prior Basic Training and Experience (RPTE) program. The human resources developer will also perform research, analyze data from various sources, and develop documents for use internally and externally by the executive staff on the organizational responsibilities and processes of the MCOLES. This position will evaluate current and future in-service training needs and state-wide training programs and will ensure that standards are met, correct, complete, and consistent with the Commission’s organization mission, values, goals, and objectives.

Human Resources Developer 12

Three years of professional experience in planning, developing, conducting, or evaluating staff development, training, or other programs equivalent to a Human Resources Developer, including one year equivalent to a Human Resources Developer P11.

Alternate Education and Experience

Human Resources Developer 12

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.

Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand 13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
