Collins Aerospace is seeking a Principal Specialist - Environmental, Health and Safety Generalist at our Largo, FL facility to utilize advanced knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations. In this role, you will act as a partner in EH&S by formulating and administering EH&S plans and procedures including EH&S Program Management. You will also take proactive steps to ensure the safety and health of site employees and influencing safe behaviors. You will monitor, administer, evaluate and coordinate with supervisors & managers to implement company EH&S programs to ensure a safe workplace.
This is an onsite position based at our Largo, FL facility, relocation is not provided.
What You Will Do:
Recognizing, evaluating, and controlling hazardous workplace conditions
Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local and company EHS requirements
Auditing and evaluating current policies, procedures, and documentation to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Investigating, analyzing, and interpreting data from injuries and near-misses ensuring corrective actions are completed on time, and all necessary documentation is in place
Interact with employees and promote relationships, learn the tasks employees perform and be known as a resource to the employees at the site
Work toward building partnerships and influencing across assigned areas to provide actionable improvement programs
Think critically and apply current knowledge to situations and problem solve
Working under the direction of the EH&S manager, support and implement EH&S programs
Collaborate across department to achieve and maintain consistency of EH&S program implementation
Have attention to detail and ability to a take a project from start to finish within the prescribed timeframe
Work collaboratively with the maintenance team on various projects
Conduct regular site inspections for compliance with EH&S programs and applicable laws & regulations
Assist in annual EH&S Audits as prescribed by programs
Assist with the Contractor Management Program and be a Contractor Coordinator
Contribute to the development and implementation of EH&S strategic initiatives that drive continuous improvement
Support the site to meet EH&S requirements for upcoming internal & external audits and EH&S program requirements
Provide training on various EH&S topics with particular emphasis on Fall Protection, Radiation Safety and Powered Industrial Trucks
Assist with the implementation of continuous improvement activities and corrective actions
Promote safety culture and EH&S Tasks and initiatives
Must be willing and able to respond to emergencies after hours as needed on an infrequent basis
Conduct monthly walkthroughs to identify and address environmental hazards
Support investigations of environmental incidents, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely submission of incident reports to regulatory agencies
Provide guidance on hazardous waste management, including storage setup, waste determinations, generator classification, and consolidation practices
Coordinate with third-party vendors for hazardous waste disposal and review invoices for accuracy
Provide expertise on emergency response and spill cleanup.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
US Citizenship is required as only US Citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Experience with organizing multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to wear a respirator.
Qualifications We Prefer:
5 years of experience focusing on Safety and Health Regulations and/or Environmental Protection Regulations
Knowledge and application of OSHA/EPA regulations and ANSI Standards
Have or obtain DOT and RCRA certifications to manage hazardous waste locations, perform inspections of SAAs & CAAs and sign manifests for shipments as needed.
Ability to accurately diagnose general and complex EH&S issues, determine appropriate or practical controls, and implement practical and effective solutions in a timely manner
Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects and programs in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate effective prioritization and implementation skills
Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications
Must be able to work well independently and within a team environment
Project management and execution skills
Previous experience working in a manufacturing/ machine shop environment
Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills
Professional Certification in Safety or Health (CSP, CIH)

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
