ABOUT THE POSITION

The Department of Real Property Management is currently accepting applications for part-time Maintenance Technician in the parks and facility maintenance areas.

Pay Rate: 17-18/hour

Minimum Age: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age at time of appointment.

Note: Part-time employment will not lead to permanent employment. Part-time hourly employees are used to fill positions normally less than twenty (20) hours per week. Part-time employees do not receive benefits.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school. Field experience is desirable but is not required.

Working Conditions: Work indoors and outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions and extreme temperatures. May work with exposure to animals, potentially hazardous paints, insects and/or noxious plants.

Licensing and Certification: Specified positions require possession of a valid Class C, Nevada Driver's License at time of appointment.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Park Maintenance Positions

  • This position may operate County vehicles with trailers to various work sites within Clark County. Mows, trims, edges, fertilizes parks, playing fields and other landscaped areas; weeds, prunes, mulches and sprays trees, plants and shrubbery; prepares soil for planting; seeds and resods lawn areas; plants trees, seedlings and shrubs; installs, repairs and maintains irrigation systems; cleans and maintains park grounds, athletic fields, paved areas and paths; grooms and prepares ball fields and other park facilities for public use; may paint facilities, assists with plumbing and carpentry work; builds concrete forms and assists with concrete and finishing work; operates a variety of hand and power landscaping tools and equipment, including hand and power mowers, tractors, shovels, hoes, brooms and other tools; operates trucks, trailers and tractors with attachments; Observes safe work methods and uses safety equipment; secures worksites from safety hazards as necessary; carries out assignments in a non-disruptive manner in areas receiving heavy public use; maintains basic records or work performed.

  • Facilities Maintenance Positions

  • This position may assist skilled crew with craft work in a variety of craft areas; works on a crew and performs work in area of assignment; performs varied duties depending upon the craft area to which assigned; however, the assignments are normally in the following areas: Assists in installing, maintaining and repairing HVAC equipment and controls, including installing related piping and electrical systems; performs pipefitting work, preventive maintenance on a variety of building operational systems; tests and treats boiler water; Assists in the repair, maintenance and remodeling of plumbing and pipefitting systems, equipment and facilities. Assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic lighting, data communication, security, control, street lighting and related systems; performs installation and repair of motors, generators, transformers, conduit, and interior wiring components. Assists in performing rough and finish carpentry, including cabinetry, shelves, dividers, paneling and partitions; assists in installing ceiling and flooring materials; installs locks, closing devices and other door and window hardware; prepares forms for cement laying and assists in the finishing of cement projects. Assists in performing painting to interior and exterior building surfaces; prepares surfaces for painting, protects surrounding surfaces and uses a variety a methods to apply paint or other covering materials such as brushes, rollers and spray equipment. Assists in maintaining and servicing a variety of test equipment and hand and power tools; uses and restocks a small inventory of frequently used supplies and hardware. Ensures that proper safety precautions are followed. May independently perform maintenance and repair work of a routine or standard nature in the craft area to which assigned. Maintains records of work performed and materials used. May drive County or local agency vehicles to work sites and transport materials and assistants as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Strength and mobility to work in a typical park maintenance setting, including operating hand and power tools; stamina to perform sustained physical labor, including standing, walking, climbing and working in awkward spaces; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 90 pounds; vision to read printed materials; hearing and speech to communicate in person or by telephone.

  • Facilities Maintenance Positions

  • Mobility to work in a typical shop or related maintenance setting, including operating typical trade equipment, hand and power tools and standard office equipment, and to drive a motor vehicle to various work sites; stamina to stand, walk and climb and to work in confined or awkward spaces for varying periods of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over a radio or telephone. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.
