Responsibilities

Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas, is seeking a compassionate and dedicatedBehavioral Health Social Workerto join our dynamic behavioral health team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality therapeutic services to individuals and families facing mental health challenges. This role requires an understanding of mental health issues, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment to enhance patient care and promote well-being.Key Responsibilities:• Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments to evaluate patients’ mental, emotional, and social needs.• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the clinical team.• Provide individual, family, and group therapy sessions to patients, addressing various mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and more.• Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and support for patients experiencing acute psychiatric or behavioral issues.• Advocate for patients’ needs and help them access community resources, such as housing, financial assistance, or other support services.• Document patient progress, treatment plans, and any changes in status according to hospital policy and regulatory standards.• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, nurses, and physicians, to coordinate care and ensure holistic treatment.• Participate in case conferences, patient care rounds, and other multidisciplinary team meetings.• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in social work and healthcare practices.• Provide education and guidance to patients and families about mental health conditions and available treatment options.• Stay up-to-date with current social work practices, regulations, and mental health treatment strategies.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  1. Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor or related field.2. In states requiring license, required upon hire and maintain current in accordance with state regulations. In states without a licensure requirement, current registration for with appropriate state board required and/or under clinical supervision to meet clinical hours required for licensure.3. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.4. Minimum one (1) year Inpatient l or Outpatient Behavioral Health experience. Experience in working with a diverse population with a wide range of problems (i.e., death and dying, maternal and child care, substance abuse, disability, chronic illness, etc.).
