Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Conducts work with proper safety restraints.*
  2. Lifts heavy loads up to 70 pounds and navigates construction job site terrain.*
  3. Digs pits, trenches, and foundations in preparation for job site construction.*
  4. Operates heavy machinery, including construction vehicles when directed.*
  5. Identifies utility lines.*
  6. Performs general maintenance of construction equipment and vehicles.*
  7. Shows up every day ready to work.*
  8. Performs other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Language Ability:

Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10\'s and 100\'s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

  • Shovel
  • Rake
  • All miscellaneous hand tools

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions , work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold , extreme heat , work in high, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
