Rayle Electric Membership Corporation Serviceman (Lineman) in Lexington, Georgia
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To provide for maintenance of the distribution system and to insure that each consumer has reliable service.
MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Require High School Graduate/Equivalent. Requires at least twelve months of directly related job experience, preferably within an electrical distribution utility. Must be a certified ITS operator. Require expertise of electricity, be mechanically adept, have ability to acquire a good working knowledge of company tools and equipment. Require ability to install and maintain three phase metering equipment, potential transformers, current transformers and other related equipment. Require the ability to become knowledgeable of company policies and procedures and to exercise correct judgement in the application of these policies to the performance of all job duties. Must be able to perform satisfactory work with minimal supervision. Require excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with member, employees, directors and the public; requires excellent decision-making and technical skills. Must possess and maintain a valid CDL driver's license and DOT certification.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Outside work in various weather conditions; require flexibility to be available for overtime, and to work during emergency situations, as necessary. Must be able to climb poles and operate aerial devices, derrick trucks, etc. Must possess the ability to operate various construction tools including but not limited to chain saws, hot sticks, drills, etc. Must be able to write legibly in order to complete daily time sheets and other written correspondence. Must have verbal/audio abilities necessary to communicate effectively directly through personal contact and indirectly through two-way radio with members and co-employees. Must be able to walk and possess adequate vision to drive a truck with manual transmission over established service area. Must pass employment drug screen before beginning work.

Must possess excellent interpersonal skills including listening, verbal communications, ability to provide feedback, ability to manage personal time and ability to control anger in dealing with members and co-workers. Must be able to perform job functions in cooperation with Supervisor, co-workers, members and public. Must perform in a consistent, even tempered manner in handling confrontational situations with members and co-workers. Must be able to exercise personal control and apply prescribed safety/loss control procedures when involved in an emergency situation.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Two-way communication with immediate supervisor to receive direction, instructions, approval; to provide work related information in a timely manner; with the subordinate staff to provide direction, instructions, approval.
