About the role

This role covers a broad spectrum of finance activities that will build on your experience across key areas of Finance. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller you will be responsible for the co-ordination of key finance functions for the Broker Platform and finova Connect propositions, driving the production of monthly management reporting and cash flow forecasting. The role is supported by an Accounts Assistant and Finance Apprentice.

You will be expected to work closely with senior management and support them through forecasting/budgeting and analyses/decision support.

The role is suited for someone who is proactive and would seek to continually improve existing reports, processes and controls to support the business growth. As the group continues to expand, there is extensive scope to further build and broaden your experience.

About you:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with minimum 2 years PQE

• Strong technical accounting knowledge and in particular business acquisitions and consolidations

• Experience in overseeing payroll

• Strong excels skills including power query and advanced formulas

• Prior knowledge of Business central and Xero would be advantageous

• Experience in maintaining a general ledger who is able to put together manual journals and are highly experienced in reconciling balance sheet accounts

• Demonstrable experience within a Finance Manager role or something similar

• Motivation and self-starter – excited by tackling challenges and pro-actively finding new ways to provide value to senior leadership and the finova group

What will you be doing:

• Leading the preparation of monthly management account packs with analysis of monthly numbers identifying variances and resolving or providing commentary

• Prepare and review monthly accruals, prepayments and similar accounting entries

• Be a key driver in building finance relationships with all stakeholders of the company

• Drive continuous improvement of end-end accounting practices ensuring processes are working as efficiently as possible

• Assisting in the preparation and review of VAT returns

• Assisting in the year-end audit producing schedules and liaising with auditors

• Provide advice, support and leadership to members of the finance department

• Assisting in the preparation and review of monthly payroll ensuring all changes have been fully documented and calculated correctly

• Leading meetings with business stakeholders to ensure relationships are being built and all are working towards the company goals

• Analysis of customer and supplier accounts ensuring correct costs/sales are being recognized and any variances/queries in billing resolved in a timely manner

• Assisting in the preparation and review of fortnightly expense reclaims across the business

• Ad Hoc duties and analysis to support the wider business and the finance department
