Why this role matters

The Risk, Controls and Assurance Manager supports a risk management framework that helps BT Group be smart with risk, making informed decisions that enable a progressive, trusted and resilient company to connect for good. In supporting the Internal Audit function, the role also helps the business connect for good by being a trusted, critical friend.

The Tools and Operations team are at the heart of Group Internal Audit and Risk (GIAR), providing the infrastructure and tools to support GIAR in delivering services and support across BT Group efficiently. This role is key in supporting the Audit and Risk teams to deliver their annual commitments and to continually improve their ways of working.

As the owner of the annual GIAR calendar, you will be at the heart of the team, ensuring upcoming commitments are known and contributing to their success by, for example, coordinating Audit and Risk Committees across BT, reporting the status of the key control framework, developing a draft of Board papers. You will also support on projects to continually improve our risk, control and assurance frameworks and Audit methodology.

What you'll be doing

  • Maintenance of the GIAR calendar of events.

  • Co-ordination of Audit and Risk Committees and Risk Hubs across BT.

  • Provide quarterly status updates on the Key Control Framework.

  • Maintenance of the BT Group Policies, Standards and Key Controls.

  • Coordinate an integrated assurance plan across the three lines of defence, tracking and reporting on the outcomes.

  • Develop first draft of BARC papers.

  • Monitor timesheet completion and track KPIs.

  • Perform Quality Assurance of audit files and GRC/Unit Risk Reports, based on a defined methodology.

  • Support on continuous improvement initiatives such asdevelopment of the Key Control Framework, IA methodology development, action tracking, skills assessments etc.

  • Support the delivery of the risk community communication and engagement plan, including Community Hub and Intranet site.

The skills you'll need

  • Experience of working in Internal Audit and/or Risk

  • Clear communicator who is confident liaising with senior leaders from Risk and Audit

  • Ability to organise and prioritise time to deliver outcomes to agreed timescales

  • Ability to build strong relationships both within and outside of the team.

  • Curiosity, particularly in terms of researching / suggesting and implementing new ways of working to enhance the efficiency of the team.

  • Experience of working with Office 365.
