Sales Manager, The Sun Publishing Team

The Team: Be part of a team and brand that is continually evolving. Sun Publishing sits within the Sun Business Unit at News UK. It is responsible for the sales, operations and commercial product strategy and partnerships for The Sun media brand and its platforms.

The Sun Publishing Sales team operates in a multi disciplined way to create compelling advertising solutions that drive revenue for our business and results for our clients.

Your Role: The Sun is at the heart of the nation’s conversation blending serious investigations, agenda setting campaigns, political scoops and celebrity gossip. We have built our audience growth strategy around our clear vision that puts content at the centre and serves specific content communities. We want to prioritise developing content that caters for and serves specific content communities that informs and entertains more people on a wider variety of subjects.

You will sell market-leading solutions around The Sun’s content to some of the biggest brands in the UK. Working across all The Sun’s platforms your daily conversations will cover digital and print display, branded content, video and social and the different ways we transact our media via direct and premium programmatic channels.

Day to day you will:

  • Develop, pitch and deliver data-led advertising solutions that are simple yet sophisticated.

  • Develop a deep understanding and analytical approach to News UK’s first party data offering, applying audience and product insight to negotiations and to help secure commercial revenue

  • Proactively build and maintain influential relationships within your agency and client patch with particular focus on investment, planning, pure play digital, programmatic, AV, Social and publishing teams

  • Define growth objectives for the agency portfolio through an articulate business plan with a focus on winning new digital business, maximising print revenue and working to transition print spenders online through direct or premium programmatic channels

  • Build external profile by arranging regular brand or bespoke presentations, attending agency events and being a highly visible face of The Sun brand.

  • Understand the strengths of our media platforms versus other media channels and influence the planning of budgets towards The Sun’s platforms.

  • Collaborate with editorial and internal commercial teams to seek out, sell and implement new revenue opportunities.

  • Work with respective digital and print operations teams to ensure we deliver campaigns correctly, on time and to maximise digital performance.

  • Deliver excellent customer service through the sales cycle from prospecting, during the campaign period and through to post campaign analysis.

  • Produce accurate analytical and financial information when requested. Maintain accurate Salesforce records and collaborate effectively with other departments through CRM.

  • Maintain a strong awareness of competitor activity

What we are looking for from you:

  • Ability to build high quality decks - both proactively and in response to brief - with accurate media plans.

  • Data literate with experience using 1PD to build sales narratives

  • A creative approach to ideation, innovation around formats and problem solving

  • Able to work with minimal guidance

  • Strong time management and prioritisation

  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint or Google Drive (inclusive of Slides / Docs / Sheets)

  • Experience using Salesforce, Telmar, IPSOS, Ad Intel, Clipshare and similar industry tools.

  • Unbridled curiosity about our clients’ business and the media landscape
