UCLA Health Communications and Network Technical Analyst in Los Angeles, California

Description

Provide technical

support for network systems for a university medical system. Responsible for

the implementation and support of network equipment. network software, daily

operational incidents, service request tickets, network and VoIP break/fix

support, incident escalation, network maintenance and network configuration.

Provide day-to-day support of the 24 x 7 production environment, including

core, distribution, wired and wireless access layers, IPAM, DHCP, VoIP systems,

WAN, and network monitoring. Build, install, monitor, optimize, troubleshoot,

maintain and document a variety of systems of the network. Assess production

network configurations and network health, identify issues, and recommend

remediation actions. Participate in network hardware refresh, new network

segment builds, and WAN clinic builds. Perform network monitoring

configuration, addition, deletions, and changes for enterprise monitoring

platforms. Perform monitoring, diagnosing, and troubleshooting to optimize

systems and networked components as necessary to resolve problems and improve

quality and performance.Annual Salary Range: $109,283 to $222,100

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science,

information systems, electronics engineering or a related technical field. Five

years of experience in job offered, Network Engineer or a related occupational

title. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master's degree in computer

science, information systems, electronics engineering or a related technical

field plus three years of experience in job offered, Network Engineer or a

related occupational title. The employer will accept any suitable combination

of education and experience. Experience analyzing end-user business needs and

devising effective cost efficient recommendations.

Demonstrated experience working both independently and in

team-oriented environment. Experience researching and testing new communication

and networking technologies and processes. Demonstrated data networking skills

including IP & Ethernet routing and switching based network design;

experience with testing and implementations utilizing the OSI seven layer

model; experience working with industry protocols including OSPF, HSRP, EIGRP,

BGP, TCP/IP, 802.1x, IPSec, Radius, and TACACS+. Experience using network

protocol analyzers and sniffers including WireShark and Fluke tools.

Experience deciphering packet captures. Demonstrated

experience and knowledge of IEEE 802.11 wireless standards and Aruba wireless

controllers. Experience supporting VoIP and ISP services support systems for

network management including voice technologies utilizing IP switching and

routing architectures. Experience working with VLAN, VRF, HSRP, Port Security,

Traffic Shaping, Priority Queuing, and Class of Service (CoS). Demonstrated

knowledge of different cabling types including multimode fiber, single-mode

fiber, LC versus SC, 10/100/1000BaseX, Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, and RJ45. Experience

utilizing troubleshooting tools including traceroute, ping, mtr, nmap, netstat,

ipconfig or ifconfig, and iperf. Experience providing communication system

status reports to management or support personnel.
