UCLA Health Histotechnologist 2, Translational Pathology Core Laboratory in Los Angeles, California
Description
Join our team at the Translational Pathology Core Laboratory dedicated to advancing biomedical research efforts by providing high-quality histology services and remnant human tissue samples. As a Histotechnologist 2, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating research endeavors by collaborating with the scientific community at UCLA. Your primary responsibilities include:
Processing formalin-fixed specimens
Embedding specimens in paraffin and fresh snap-frozen specimens in OCT
Sectioning paraffin and frozen sections
Staining samples using various techniques including H&E, special stains, immunohistochemical, and immunofluorescence stains
Preparing solutions and maintaining laboratory equipment
Conducting quality control procedures and evaluating the quality of sections and stains
Keeping detailed records of work performed and troubleshooting technical and equipment issues
Salary Range: $55.70/hour - $72.05/hour
Qualifications
Histotechnologist (ASCP) certification
Must have at least 5 years of Hisotech experience
Proficiency in processing formalin-fixed specimens, embedding, sectioning, and staining techniques
Strong communication skills to interact with biomedical researchers, understand research protocols, and prepare sections for specialized studies such as molecular studies and laser capture microdissection (LCM)
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure the highest quality of tissue samples
