Description
Under general supervision, the incumbent provides age specific nursing care in the Multi-specialty clinic. Major functions are to collect health data, history information, medication reconciliation, take vital signs, start IV and obtain venous blood samples, process medication prescriptions, administer medications and injections, prepare and assist procedures, process instrument for sterilization. And assist as assigned with patient education on medication initiation and follow up, endoscopic procedures preparation and audio-visual instructions, Document patient information accurately and in accordance with departmental and institutional guidelines. Maintain a good patient flow through the clinic. Provide continuity of care to assigned clinic/s. Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuation workload and/or frequent interruption. Ability to respond and assist appropriately in emergency situations. The incumbent follows the principles set forth in the UCLA Health System and strive to provide the highest quality of C-I-Care/Patient Experience Practices.
Salary Range: $34.61-$45.66/hourly
Qualifications
Required:
Possess license issued by the State of CA Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners with Intravenous Therapy and blood withdrawal certification
BLS Card from ARC or AHA
Able to speak, understand, read and write English to convey information at all levels of understanding
Able to perform independently and interdependently
Able to maintain positive working relationship with all team members, patients, and families
Able to take blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and perform EKG
Able to perform tasks with frequent interruption
Able to maintain equanimity in the face of resistance and indifference
Able to maintain confidentiality
Knowledge of all instruments and supplies to perform physical examinations and/or procedures
Ability to take vital signs, administer medications and obtain drug refills as needed
Ability to recognize abnormal laboratory values and report to the physician
Knowledge of symptomatology of common and or life threatening medical problems
Interpersonal skills in maintaining a cooperative working environment with the physicians, staff, and all health providers
Skill to perform CPR
Keyboard literacy skills to access and input data in computerized logging systems
Demonstrated ability to be punctual and maintain good attendance
Skill and knowledge to submit quality work in a timely manner
