14673BRDepartment Name:HSP Psychiatric Adolescent Location:Child/Adolescent Psych Hospital Job Description:The Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Security Officer works under the direction of the Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Nurse Manager to ensure the safety of patients, families, visitors, and staff persons at the free-standing facility. Safety is ensured through systematic monitoring of the facility and grounds and through interactions with individuals within the facility, many of whom have increased levels of anxiety contributing to behavior that may be intractable. Interactions involving physical holds occur under the direction of the nurse and utilize the principles of Care, Welfare, Safety and Security as taught in Crisis Prevention Institute’s Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Program. The Security Officer also provides reception services, and administrative support as needed.

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED/HSED)
Six (6) months of security or public safety experience
Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License
Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, CPR, and Defense and Arrest Tactics (DAAT) certification within three months of hire
Basic understanding of Wisconsin Criminal Law and Civil Law including but not limited to theft, burglary, trespassing, and civil liability
Understanding of proper use of force within a child/adolescent mental health treatment facility
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Strong computer skills
Ability to interact with children and adolescents
Preferred Qualifications:
60 college credits or an Associate Degree in Police Science, Criminal Justice, or related field
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification
CPR Certification
Defense and Arrest Tactics (DAAT)
Experience working with children, adolescents, and their families
Experience in a mental health care setting
Understanding of child development
