Job Title: Fabrication Welder

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Fabricator with 2-5 years of experience working in an iron shop. The ideal candidate will be proficient in fabricating custom iron railings, gates, doors, windows, and other ironworks. This role requires the ability to work independently, interact professionally with customers, and operate various steel fabrication equipment.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate custom iron railings, gates, doors, windows, and other ironworks as required.

• Operate independently with limited supervision.

• Interact professionally with customers and have strong customer-facing skills.

• Read plans, do takeoffs, and measurements and translate them to physical objects.

• Perform field measurements for changes in elevation, inclinations, and radius measurements for bends and corners. NEED MORE ON THE ORNAMENTAL SIDE MEANING - IRON AND DESIGN WORK: HAVE TO BE ABLE TO MEASURE RISE AND RUN OF STAIRCASES, CALCULATE PITCH ANGLE SLOPE, AND MORE.

• Use steel fabrication equipment such as metal bending machines, cutting machines, plasma torches, hammers, anvils, grinders, and cutting tools.

• Build templates for the fabrication of custom elements like arches, fittings, and decorative iron elements.

• MIG weld in the shop with other welders and stick weld in the field.

• Follow safety protocols and procedures relative to iron work.

• Operate a forklift to move heavy steel and other equipment.

Essential Skills

• 2-5 years of experience in an iron shop.

• Ability to read plans, do takeoffs, and measurements.

• Field measurement skills for elevation changes, inclinations, and radius measurements.

• Experience with steel fabrication equipment.

• Knowledge of MIG welding and stick welding.

• Understanding of safety protocols and procedures.

• Forklift operation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• OSHA 30 certified is a plus.

• Forklift certified is a plus.

• OSHA 10 or 30 certification is required.

• Prior forklift experience (propane powered).

Work Environment

The work hours are roughly from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. We have a well-established business with over 30 years of experience. The work involves operating various steel fabrication equipment, and adherence to safety protocols is essential. A DOT screening is required for driving our non-class C vehicles.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Mahopac, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $56160.00 - $73000.00/yr.

2 weeks vacation, sick time, health insurance, 401K, discretionary bonus are standard benefits. Need to pass a DOT screening for driving one of our (non-class C) vehicles.
