Vanguard Head of Threat Intelligence in Malvern, Pennsylvania

Within GR&S, the Enterprise Security and Fraud (ES&F) sub-division is responsible for the global protection of Vanguard crew, property, data, and client assets. The Head of Threat Intelligence is responsible for leading the organization’s cyber threat intelligence (CTI) team. This role demands a strategic leader capable of driving intelligence activities that identify, assess, monitor, and counter threats aimed at the enterprise. The oncoming Senior Manager will ensure that cyber threat intelligence is relevant, timely, and actionable, facilitating protective measures against cyber threats at an executive level.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Strategic Leadership and Vision:

  • Develop and maintain a strategic vision for the CTI function within the organization, ensuring alignment with the broader cybersecurity and business objectives.

  • Advocate for the importance of advanced threat intelligence strategies to executive management and other stakeholders.

Threat Intelligence Collection and Analysis:

  • Oversee the collection of intelligence from various sources, including open-source intelligence, commercial feeds, and internal monitoring systems.

  • Ensure the analysis of collected data to identify patterns, trends, and indicators of compromise that could impact the organization.

  • Implement advanced analytical techniques and threat modeling to predict potential attackers’ moves and targets.

Team Management and Development:

  • Manage a team of threat intelligence analysts and specialists, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance in sophisticated analytical techniques and intelligence methodologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify threat intelligence talent, recruit top performers and develop long term capabilities growth of your crew.

Collaboration and Integration:

  • Collaborate with internal security teams (e.g., SOC, Incident Response, Fraud, Attack Analysis, etc.) to integrate actionable intelligence into operational processes.

  • Facilitate information sharing and operational coordination with external entities, such as industry peers, government agencies, and law enforcement.

Reporting and Communication:

  • Regularly report on the threat landscape and intelligence findings to senior executives, providing actionable insights and strategic recommendations.

  • Develop and maintain an intelligence reporting framework that effectively communicates the relevance and urgency of threats to various stakeholders.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Oversee the selection and implementation of intelligence tools and technologies that enhance the capabilities of the threat intelligence team.

  • Ensure continuous assessment and optimization of these technologies to adapt to the evolving threat landscape.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Justify investments in intelligence tools, personnel, and training to the senior management, aligning expenditures with strategic security needs.

What it takes:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within cyber threat intelligence or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat landscape, and the tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) of threat actors.

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex security issues to a variety of audiences.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate security needs into business-focused solutions.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Intelligence and Security Professional (CISP), or similar.
