job summary:
A Manufacturing Engineer is needed for a world leader in medical devices that seeks to offer innovative solutions in neurosurgery, and reconstructive and general surgery in the Mansfield, MA area. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance and validate manufacturing processes for surgical products in the medical device industry while leveraging engineering expertise and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

responsibilities:
Collaborates with cross-functional teams (Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality, Planning, Purchasing, Regulatory, Manufacturing) to improve manufacturing processes for surgical products in the medical device industry.
Designs, specifies, develops, and purchases manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
Manages implementation and validation of new or modified manufacturing processes and equipment.
Supports and guides internal and external transfers with suppliers.
Assists in selecting and validating replacement materials (polymers, metals, adhesives) for manufacturing.
Writes and implements Manufacturing Procedures and Work Instructions.
Creates, updates, and maintains Bill of Materials (BOMs), Routers, and Device Master Records (DMRs).
Provides expertise in manufacturing and process engineering to resolve related problems.
Skills:
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), ISO 13485 Design Control, and Manufacturing Process qualifications (IQ, OQ, PO).
Working knowledge of manufacturing processes (metal processing, plastics processing, mechanical assembly).
Preferred experience with machine/tool design and new equipment startups.
Preferred experience in a cleanroom environment.
Required knowledge of Six Sigma Statistical Process Analysis, certification preferred.
Ability to mentor Blackbelts/Greenbelts on projects and tools like Minitab software.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum of 6 years of engineering industry experience, specifically in the medical device sector.
