Job Overview:

The Principal Regulatory Compliance Specialist candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulatory and permitting requirements related to our operations. This role involves coordinating with various regulatory bodies, managing permitting processes, and staying updated on relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently without direct reports.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all company operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Keep up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations that affect the company.

  • Permitting: Manage all aspects of the permitting process, including applications, renewals, and modifications. Liaise with regulatory bodies to secure necessary permits and approvals.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all regulatory and permitting activities.

  • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies in a timely manner.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential regulatory risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Provide guidance to internal teams on compliance issues.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and other relevant stakeholders. Foster positive relationships to facilitate smooth regulatory interactions.

  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with various departments, including operations, legal, and environmental teams, to ensure regulatory and permitting requirements are met.

  • Audit and Inspection Preparation: Prepare for and assist with regulatory audits and inspections. Ensure that all necessary documentation is available and compliant with regulatory standards.

  • Policy Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures related to regulatory compliance and permitting.

  • Training and Awareness: Conduct training sessions and provide guidance to employees on regulatory and permitting requirements and best practices.

Essential Qualifications and Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, environment, business or other relevant discipline

• Eight plus (8+) years of experience.

• Professional and has a positive demeanor.

• Able to deal diplomatically with all levels and departments of the organization.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Experience managing multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity.

• Proven track record of taking the initiative and driving results.
