Astellas Pharma Canada (APCA) is currently searching for a System Engineer – ServiceNow.

Description

As a Systems Engineer of a team of individuals in a specific area of digital expertise, you will be a crucial player in driving our digital initiatives forward in our agile organization. Our agile operating model consists of two components – Digital Capability and Digital Execution. Digital Execution are about aligning multiple missions around business goals and facilitating collaboration on a larger scale. Digital Capability, on the other hand, focus on the growth and development of individuals within a specific expertise area. This dual structure enables us to scale agile practices efficiently while maintaining a focus on both product development and individual skill enhancement.

A Systems Engineer focuses on the development, deployment, and integration of software platforms that support our business processes and operations. This role involves a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and a deep understanding of the specific platforms and systems that drive business functions of our affiliates. The goal is to ensure these systems/ platforms are optimized to support business requirements of our affiliates that are not supported by our Enterprise Platforms (Country specific Legal, Regulatory, Statutory requirements and our unique/niche areas).

You will be at the forefront of implementing innovative solutions and will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in your field.

Essential Job Duties

  1. Platforms/ System Development and Configuration : Design, develop, and configure business systems to meet the specific needs of our organization. This could involve programming, configuring settings, and integrating various software solutions.

  2. 2 . System Integration : Ensure seamless integration between different business platforms and systems (e.g., integrating CRM and ERP systems) to enhance data flow and business processes.

  3. Performance Monitoring and Optimization : Regularly monitor the performance of business platforms, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to improve efficiency and user experience.

  4. User Support and Training : Provide technical support to platform users, resolve issues, and conduct training sessions to ensure users can effectively utilize the platforms.

  5. Initiative Execution : Actively participate in and contribute to various initiatives, applying your specialized skills to achieve the objectives and expected Value. Contribute to the ongoing realization of Value from these enterprise platforms through continuous integration and deployment.

  6. Collaboration : Work collaboratively with team members within the subdivision and across other digital and business units.

  7. Continuous Learning : Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in a specific area of expertise.

  8. Innovation: Contribute innovative ideas and approaches to enhance project outcomes and digital capabilities.

  9. Reporting: Regularly report on the progress of the various Value Teams and outcomes to your Capability Lead and team members.

10 .Problem-Solving : Employ analytical and problem-solving skills to overcome project challenges and deliver effective solutions.

  1. Quality Assurance : Ensure the highest quality and consistency in the work delivered.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of information technology industry experience, with 3+ years of experience working on the ServiceNow platform and technologies.

  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)

  • Hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting HAMpro and HRSD/EC Pro.

  • Hands-on experience supporting and developing ServiceNow solutions across ITSM, ITOM & CMDB.

  • Hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting Workflows/Flow Designer, ATF, MID Server, integrating ServiceNow with external systems, etc.

  • Proficiency with ServiceNow scripting (Glide, JavaScript). Design, implement, and maintain workflows within ServiceNow to automate business processes, improve operational efficiency, and enforce organizational policies and procedures.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting, identifying, and developing automated solutions, code fixes, code deployment and performance tuning for multiple ServiceNow environments, including Production. Working in a team to develop, execute and provide ongoing operational support for CI/CD pipeline. Confident and able to multi-task and manage expectations in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

  • Experience to write and maintain code specifications and business functionality/user documentation. Maintain documentation.

  • Demonstrable experience in Agile methodology and mindset.

  • Able to evaluate the latest ServiceNow features and determine their value for adoption.

  • Leverage AI technologies to optimize workflows, improve decision-making, and enhance user experiences within ServiceNow

  • Assessing architecture and solution designs to support stakeholder objectives, including alignment with ServiceNow implementation best practices and staying OOTB.

  • Ability to provide technical evaluation and time estimates for delivery.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred

  • Capable of nurturing talent within the ServiceNow development team.

  • ServiceNow certifications (implementer, developer, or administrator) across ServiceNow products.

  • Experience in the ServiceNow Service Mapping Application

  • ITIL certified.

  • Full-life cycle ServiceNow management with experience leading 2+ upgrade projects to enhance platform functionality and efficiency.

Working Environment

  • This position is remote and is based in Canada.
