Your challenge:

Radio-Canada Gaspésie/Îles-de-la-Madeleine is looking for a Cross-Platform Reporter for its Matane bureau. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager, News and Programming. You will be responsible for writing copy and producing impactful stories for our various platforms in compliance with CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.

In particular, you will do research, conduct interviews and edit audio and video to produce thorough, fact-checked, dynamic and compelling news content. You will maintain a wide network of contacts, pitch story ideas related to what’s happening in the Gaspé and Magdalen Islands, and provide in-depth and follow-up reporting. You will also be expected to deliver your content on digital, radio and television platforms to accurately and thoughtfully reflect the territory and different communities in the Gaspé Peninsula and Magdalen Islands.

Your profile:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • Three (3) years’ journalism experience or equivalent

Skills:

  • Broad general knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of current events in the Gaspé and Magdalen Islands

  • Solid command of French (working language)

  • Knowledge of English an asset

  • Strong understanding of audio, visual and digital storytelling techniques and interviewing techniques

  • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices

  • Good knowledge of IT and social media

  • Basic knowledge of audio/video editing software an asset

  • Interest in and aptitude for learning new tools

  • Ability to work well under pressure to tight deadlines

  • Willingness to work flexible, irregular hours depending on the assignment

  • Valid driver’s licence and a driving record that meets the criteria of CBC/Radio-Canada’s insurance company
