Abbott Device Production Supervisor (Night Shift) in Matsudo-shi, Japan

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

  • Individual contributor with comprehensive knowledge in the specific area acquired from several years of experience or specialist training in production area.

  • First level manager of a work team that could comprise professionals, technical and/or administrative staff (typically without budget or hire/fire authority).

  • Leads/supervises a team of 2 or more professionals.

  • Mentor, train, counsel, discipline and appraise team members.

  • Implement established business strategy, assigning roles and tasks to dedicated team members based on strengths and abilities to meet and exceed organizational goals with optimum use of workforce and resource allocation.

  • Identify and implement positive changes in workplace safety, quality, process efficiency, cost reduction and waste elimination.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure that the workplace has the appropriate resource to perform the designated activities and secure that the workplace and equipments are clean and organized.

• Create a detailed and comprehensive assembly schedule for the team (weekly and/or biweekly) maximizing resources and ensuring master production schedule compliance.

• Ensure the production is performed as planned (quality, schedule, quantity and cost wise) ; address any production challenges and communicate to appropriate leadership in timely manner.

• Monitor, evaluate and adjust processes, procedures or equipment to maximize quality and efficiency.

• Review and consolidate all batch records, associated documents and performance data and KPI and create reports for the leadership team.

• Set performance goals and deadlines in line with company’s vision, monitoring budget and reporting variances to leadership.

• Ensure department and company goals and objectives are being met by monitoring team and individual productivity and provide performance evaluations, constructive feedback, mentorship, and discipline as needed.

• Plan and conduct training.

• Ensure that tasks are performed in accordance with applicable safety guidelines, as well as appropriate manufacturing standards.

• Ensure that tasks are performed in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

• Participate in program or functional/cross-functional team projects developing process improvement methods, solutions, and procedures to enhance efficiency, quality, cost and scheduling.

• May set-up, operate and shut-down machines and equipment, troubleshooting production issues and produce products according to production specifications, procedures and established schedules, ensuring volume, cost, and wastage targets, and quality standards as needed.

• May perform routine preventive maintenance of machine and equipment, following a pre-determined schedule and instructions as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Associates Degree (±13 years)

  • Diploma with proven 5 plus years of excellar supervisory work experience and managerial skills development courses.

Experience/Background

Minimum 4 years

• Proven work experience in a supervisory role.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively across departments.

• Experience with conflict resolution.

• Detail-oriented, well organized and able to adhere to deadlines.

• Ability to motivate people on your team and across departments.

Language Proficiency

Japanese - Fluent

English - Advanced
