Job Title: Project Engineer
Job Description
Plans, organizes, manages, and is responsible for all document control and distribution processes and systems for the Planning, Design & Construction (PD&C) Department. This includes handling all construction project-related documentation received from and sent to the contractor, architect, and internal staff from initial planning and early development of a project through its completion.
Responsibilities
Meet regularly with all parties involved to stay abreast of and track the status of construction projects at all stages.
Prepare meeting agendas as needed and record and distribute minutes summarizing matters discussed and actions approved.
Scan, distribute, and file documents including project designs, drawings, specifications, estimates, and correspondence to the appropriate archival repository.
Verify and correct project-related documentation where needed.
Ensure that document control and distribution systems, processes, and procedures are organized, accurate, clear, and complete.
Maintain effective and ongoing communications with construction and contractor management teams.
Provide initial review of pay applications, change orders, and other incoming construction documents.
Perform other project engineering and project management-related duties as well as incidental duties as needed or assigned.
Support 2-3 Project Managers who manage 10-20 projects each.
Conduct site walks, assess site conditions, and manage project closeout.
Essential Skills
2-3 years of experience in construction or a related field
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
Experience with documentation and filing processes
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Strong administrative skills with a disciplined and organized approach
Ability to learn quickly and follow up effectively
Experience with construction project management tools
Ability to read drawings and schematics
Effective communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with various stakeholders
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of CAD system, CAFM, estimating, cost control, scheduling, construction administration, quality control, and specific writing and place planning
Knowledge of technical and professional requirements in healthcare delivery, architecture, building design process, and construction
Knowledge of project management, accounting, construction design, construction methods, building materials, sustainability, mechanical and electrical construction, cost estimation, building codes and standards, and contract administration
Knowledge of OSHPD forms, applications, fees, permits, test, and inspection forms
Knowledge of RFI, PCO, submittal, and invoicing processes
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
OSHA-10 certificate preferred
PMP certification is a plus for career advancement
Nice to have experience in cost and scheduling

Work Environment
This role is based in an offsite facility in Menlo Park, associated with the main hospital. The department includes EH&S, facilities, maintenance, and construction teams. The Project Management Office oversees all tenant improvement projects for the main hospital. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, starting at 7am, and requires business formal attire.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Menlo Park, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
