Job Description

The Marketing Operations Governance Manager, Marketing Operations, leads and shapes the governance framework of the Material Review Process (MRP). This position oversees the governance structure and team and is responsible for the monitoring processes that ensure compliance with AbbVie standards and policies. The Governance Manager leads various cross-functional ‘solutions teams’ which evaluate the feasibility of agility solutions and process improvements. The Governance Manager additionally oversees a comprehensive metrics program to support visibility into process health and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Governance Team Lead

  • Collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders, including Marketing, Business Technology Services (BTS), Commercial Compliance, Regulatory, Medical and Legal/OEC to ensure alignment with governance objectives

  • Drive continuous improvement of the overall governance approach and structure

  • People leader with direct report(s)

  • Standards and Procedures Oversight

  • Proactively monitor and adapt relevant policies to support compliant agility and future focus.

  • Ensure cross-functional alignment, drive training, timing and communication of updated policies.

  • Develop and implement governance processes and documentation methodology in line with current good practices, including monitoring measures as needed

  • Solutions Teams Leadership

  • Responsible for the smooth operations of MRP governance bodies: eMRP team and MRP Action Team and dissemination of key decisions to impacted stakeholders

  • Effectively evaluate risk and impact of novel processes and proposals using a deep understanding of the MRP ecosystem

  • Using an enterprise lens, collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure that governance solutions are aligned with business needs and that decisions are communicated to the impacted teams.

  • Facilitates effective discussions and meetings.

  • Metrics Program Oversight

  • Strategic lead for MRP Metrics program in alignment with leadership direction.

  • Manage supplier relationships, budget, and performance.

  • Support or manage wider governance initiatives as needed

  • Actively engage during compliance-related audits to explain material review process at both holistic and granular levels, including its intersection with system and other requirements.

  • Liaison with Review team management, systems and central operations leads to ensure understanding of ongoing Marketing Ops initiatives, challenges and objectives that impact MRP and our stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S./Business, Communications or Advertising (MBA not required, but desirable) or equivalent business experience within AbbVie or a related industry

  • 8+ years of experience in project or program management

  • 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical industry

  • Sound knowledge and proven ability to develop and implement effective, robust governance approaches to ensure that all influenced governance committees run smoothly

  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical material review process and stakeholder responsibilities

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with diplomacy and the ability to influence without direct authority. Credible and able to deal comfortably with key individuals at all levels.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to distill highly complex requirements into compelling business objectives

  • Strong relationship-building and relationship-management skills

  • Proven leadership competencies to include setting vision and strategy, knowing the business, driving for results, and encouraging open exchange of ideas and knowledge

  • Strong and agile problem-solving abilities in complex, compliance regulated department

  • Enthusiastic team player with a strong customer focus and the ability to deliver under pressure to ensure deadlines are met

  • Proven supervisory experience, able to lead direct report(s) and delegate

  • Change management experience a plus

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​

Salary: $117,500 - $223,500
