CiTi BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTE) Electrical Technologies Instructor in Mexico, New York

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Career and Technical Education (CTE) Electrical Technologies Instructor to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical technologies, as well as a passion for teaching and mentoring students. The instructor is responsible for delivering hands-on training and instruction to students pursuing careers in the electrical field. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future workforce by providing practical and theoretical knowledge to aspiring electricians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively develop and deliver curriculum for the Electrical Technologies program, ensuring alignment with industry standards and certification requirements.

  • Provide hands-on training in electrical technologies, including residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems.

  • Instruct students on safety protocols, electrical codes, and regulations.

  • Assess student performance through practical and theoretical evaluations.

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide constructive feedback.

  • Collaborate with industry partners to ensure the program meets current workforce needs and trends.

  • Participate in professional development to stay current with advancements in the electrical field.

  • Support and mentor students, providing guidance on career pathways and professional development.

  • Assist in the maintenance and organization of laboratory and training facilities.

  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • NYS Teacher Certification - “CTE Electrical” or “Visiting Lecturer” (or ability & willingness to obtain certification)

  • Associate’s degree in electrical technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the electrical field, with a focus on hands-on, practical work.

  • Industry-specific certifications such as OSHA, NEC/NIEC, CST, etc. Certification as a Journeyman or Master Electrician is preferred

  • Prior teaching/training experience in a classroom or in an on-the-job setting is highly desirable.

    Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical theory, codes, and standards.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to effectively convey complex concepts to students of varying skill levels.

  • Proficiency in using instructional technology and tools.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Commitment to student success and professional growth.

    Location: CTE (program located at CCC, Fulton Campus)
