POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the collection and disposal of residential and commercial trash within the city limits.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
Drive or ride sanitation truck (as assigned) on established route for collection of trash, garbage, limbs and
brush, grass clippings, discarded furniture/appliances and other acceptable items left for disposal.
Responsible for inspecting loads of materials brought into facility for asbestos materials; will refuse loads
that contain such materials.
Use WEP certification to inspect loads for non-acceptable materials for landfill.
Collect waste following routine schedule, additional responsibilities of picking up litter around trash
containers, storm sewers and roadways.
Communicate orally with dispatcher in receiving instructions and relaying information by use of two-way
radio.
Perform repairs on polycarts as well as minor maintenance on vehicles and equipment, referring all major
repairs to Solid Waste mechanic.
Wash and clean vehicles and equipment on a regular basis according to departmental policy, servicing and
performing minor maintenance on vehicles as needed, according to departmental policy.
Answer routine questions from public concerning waste pick-up, taking complaints and providing
information regarding collection policies and regulations, referring all questionable problems to supervisor
or manager.
Demonstrate responsibility for housekeeping, maintenance duties and other related activities for the
general upkeep of the worksite and work facilities.

Education: General education background with high school completion. High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: No experience necessary.
Computer Skills: None required.
Certificates & Licenses: Possess and maintain valid Oklahoma CDL Class B Drivers license
Driving record acceptable with insurance carrier.
Asbestos license (certified to check for asbestos) within one year of hire date.
WEP certified (waste exclusion plan) within one year of hire date.
