Actalent Supplier Quality Engineer in Michigan City, Indiana

Job Title: Supplier Quality EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team. With a rich history of over 50 years in the compressed air solutions industry, we have expanded our operations globally, including offices in Chicago and facilities in the United States and China. As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products through meticulous PPAP documentation and validation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Create, review, and document PPAPs.

  • Receive supplier deviations through the PPAP email inbox, including assigned parts and associated pictures.

  • Validate PPAPs and communicate with suppliers via email, meetings, and calls.

  • Collaborate with internal engineers to confirm and submit PPAPs in a designated PPAP folder.

  • Travel to customer sites, mostly within the USA, for PPAP validations (approximately 30% travel, once a month).

  • Perform PPAPs for various areas including fabrication, machining, wire harness, tubing, piping, injection molding, and pressure tanks.

  • Focus on documentation while the rest of the internal team handles Quality Audits, Improvements, and Quality Management.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology field.

  • 3+ years of experience in APQP/PPAP documentation (creation and validation).

  • Familiarity with Supplier Quality in Fabrication (welding, MIG, TIG, grinding, shearing, steel, sheet metal, material strengths/weaknesses).

  • Level 3 PPAP minimum.

  • Familiarity with GD&T for 2D Drawings and measurement data.

  • Experience in assemblies review and handling supplier deviations up to 5 components (Fabrication: 3 parts; Machining: 5 parts).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing software.

  • Experience with FMEA and quality audits.

Work Environment

You will have your own cubicle upstairs with the product team. This is primarily a desk job with occasional travel to customer sites once a month. Working hours are flexible, with options between 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM or 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $47.00/hr.
