Manufacturing Operator

Job Description

As a Manufacturing Operator, you will play a crucial role in our team by assisting in the manufacturing process of agars. Your work will have a significant impact, whether it involves helping customers find cures for cancer, protecting the environment, or ensuring food safety. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Microbiology Division and work on products that make a difference in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently and safely operate assigned machinery and perform simple maintenance, reporting any malfunctioning equipment immediately to the Supervisor or Lead.

  • Set up and adjust machines to run at different sizes.

  • Obtain necessary materials for operation needs from the warehouse or staging area.

  • Organize production flow, ensure materials are available, estimate progress of the line, and schedule breaks according to the production time schedule in a safe manner.

  • Accurately document and check personal work for quality and compliance, monitor products for defects, and assist with the inventory process.

  • Complete production assignments in a timely manner in accordance with departmental schedules.

Essential Skills

  • Production experience preferred (3 months preferred but not required).

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment (e.g., production, fast food, retail, restaurant).

  • Ability to understand and implement directions.

  • Good attitude and growth mindset.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven track record of working at a fast pace.

  • Willingness to stand for long periods and take direction.

Work Environment

You will work in a large facility with two separate buildings dedicated to manufacturing pharmaceuticals, which requires high standards for cleanliness and adherence to regulations. All production lines have clear instructions posted in each room for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and room rules. The site is organized and well-run, and while supervisors may be tough on contractors initially, they focus on retention, training, and promoting from within once you prove yourself.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Middletown, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $22.43/hr.
