JOB REQUIREMENTS: Come Join Our Team! We Are Hiring! We are currently hiring a Junior Accountant I in Milwaukee, WI. This is a full-time position that does not require working late nights, weekends, or holidays. Who are we? We provide high quality, comprehensive care to roughly 16,000 patients annually, a majority of who are low-income. No one is ever turned away from our clinics based on insurance status or ability to pay. We value a patient-centered philosophy and provide range of services that include family medicine, internal medicine, women\'s health, urgent care, dental, radiology and integrated behavioral health. We also offer supportive services such as case management, health education and benefits enrollment. Position Summary The Junior Accountant I supports the goals of Progressive Community Health Centers by assisting in the fiscal operations of the organization. The Junior Accountant I is responsible for support to the Finance Department through the delivery of accounting services, with emphasis on accounts payable, data entry, filing, and assistance with general ledger data entry, reconciliation and special projects, as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Maintain vendor listing and associated documentation. Follow up on any issues on purchase orders to external departments. Review all vendor invoices and statements for proper documentation and approval prior to payment. Prepare accounts payable invoices to be entered in computerized accounting system. Enter accounts payable invoices by GL account, department and funding sources. Work with staff to schedule timely payment of invoices. Prepare and disburse all PCHC payments in compliance with fiscal policies and procedures, includes check preparation, a check register, printing of the checks and updating of the checks. Assist as back-up with preparation and verification of cash receipts. Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies. Assist as back-up with depositing incoming checks weekly as needed. Assist in the preparation and recording accounts receivable and cash receivables. Assist with monthly closing of books. Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices. Participate in internal audit functions to ensure proper controls are in place prior to external audits. Assist with year-end financial audit.
