Actalent Embedded Software Engineer in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Job Title: Software Engineer

Job Description

Develop critical care software for our state-of-the-art medical device within an Agile (Scrum) framework. Work with a real-time embedded software system utilizing Green Hills Integrity OS within a complex multi-therapy electro-mechanical device/platform. Propose design alternatives, create excellent software requirements, and mold software architecture. Implement code and unit tests in C/C++ and perform peer reviews. Estimate work, write design documentation, and investigate high-priority field issues. Collaborate with architects, other developers, testers, systems engineers, and other cross-functional personnel to create the best solution possible.

Responsibilities

  • Develop critical care software for a complex medical device.

  • Work within an Agile (Scrum) framework.

  • Utilize Green Hills Integrity OS in a real-time embedded software system.

  • Propose design alternatives and create software requirements.

  • Mold software architecture and implement code in C/C++.

  • Perform peer reviews and unit tests.

  • Estimate work and write design documentation.

  • Investigate high-priority field issues.

  • Collaborate with architects, developers, testers, systems engineers, and other cross-functional personnel.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in C++ and embedded software development.

  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies (Agile, Iterative, V-Model).

  • Experience with Embedded SW Architecture, design, development, test & integration, debugging techniques, and simulator usage.

  • Ability to analyze issues with memory, threading, and performance.

  • Excellent communication skills for design decisions and courses of action.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of experience or a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience.

  • Experience in a regulated development environment.

  • Ability to perform analysis, design, requirements engineering, and use-case development.

  • Experience implementing maintainable, well-designed code in C++ and C.

Work Environment

Work within an Agile (Scrum) framework on a state-of-the-art Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy device. Collaborate with a cross-functional team including architects, developers, testers, and systems engineers. Utilize Green Hills Integrity OS in a real-time embedded software system. The work involves debugging, testing, and using simulators to ensure quality software development. The environment values process orientation and effective communication of design decisions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
