SURESCRIPTS-RXHUB Senior Database Engineer in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Job Summary The Senior Database Engineer's role is to assist in designing and implementing databases and integration with applications across the organization, while ensuring high levels of data availability. The Senior Database Engineer will also assist in evaluating and selecting all technology components, such as software, hardware, and networking capabilities, for database management systems and applications. Responsibilities Assist in implementing long-term strategic goals for database development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders Participate in agile development process and analyze user requirements and, based on findings, design functional specifications for databases and database applications following database standards Work with agile teams and product owners to ensure database design and performance meet business requirements Plan and implement data security and data governance requirements in all aspects of database design and implementation Plan and implement capacity and resource expansion to ensure scalability of company databases Design redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts Develop automated database applications, where necessary, using applicable database techniques Identify inefficiencies in current databases and implement improved solutions Plan and Coordinate database upgrades and migrations Write database scripts for DDL and data changes QualificationsBasic Requirements: Bachelor degree in computer science, information systems or computer engineering or related field or equivalent experience 5+ years of experience with developing, configuring, tuning, and supporting large database environments 3+ years of experience with various database platforms, including Postgres, AlloyDB, Cassandra BigQuery and/or BigTable 3+ years of experience with database development languages, including SQL, Linux scripting, and/or Python 3+ years of experience with GCP or other Cloud environment 3+ years of experience with database design applications, including SQL Developer, DB Visualizer, and Erwin Preferred Qualifications: Familiar with database performance tuning and replication Proven ability to convert data governance standards into processes and actions Experience in data security best practices Knowledge of database authentication and authorization Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices Experience in Data modeling and structure design Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering and analysis Proven ability to resolve data issues Experience identifying and correcting database design or SQL inefficiencies to optimize cloud costs In-depth technical knowledge of network and operating systems, including Linux and Windows Experience with database related presentation applications Experience with NoSQL databases such as BigQuery, BigTable and Cassandra Working experience with Postgres, AlloyDB and Oracle databases Experience with database replication, preferably Oracle Golden Gate Experience working as part of an agile team Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws Familiarity with database script automation tools (ie: Flyway) and tools for automating code deployments Experience with Source Code Control systems (ie: GIT or Bitbucket) Familiarity with metadata management tools (ie: Informatica Axon, Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog) Experience researching and presenting technical topics to a group of people Working experience with developing, configuring and supporting database environments Surescripts embraces flexibility through its Flexible Hybrid Work model for most positions. At Surescripts, base pay is one part of our Total Rewards Package (which may also include bonus, benefits etc.) and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this position is $124,300 - $151,900 per year. Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
