Job Summary

The R& D Technician will focus essentially on running trials, collecting, and analyzing data, and maintaining R&D inventories, spaces, and equipment. This position will also be responsible for setting up sensory panels and product presentations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

· Perform activities and execute all procedures as directed by supervisor.

· Conduct all appropriate testing. Gather, analyze, and summarize data or findings. Develop recommendations based on findings in conjunction with supervisor.

· Schedule and prioritize assigned projects and duties.

· Weekly progress reporting to supervisor.

· Follow all facility GMP’s and policies.

· Maintain detailed activity records and inventories.

· Help in production as time allows outside of primary responsibilities.

· Complete all required training in a timely manner.

· Adhere to ERU food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations (ex. FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA)

· May be required to work occasional overtime if deemed necessary.

· Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Minimum Requirements

List Education / Certification / Licenses / Training / Supervisory Responsibilities

· Minimum of an Associate Degree and 2 years of experience in cheese/Dairy Science.

· Must be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervision.

· Must have knowledge of common laboratory concepts, practices, and procedures.

· Good verbal and written communication skills

· Self-Motivated by problem solving and inherent curiosity to understand how things work.

· Ability to work effectively in a team and with others.

· Strong technical skills in food science preferred.

· Ability to handle complex assignments on aggressive timing.

· Executional excellence a must.

· Ability to learn new products and processes quickly.

· Ability to utilize all senses to detect and recognize similarities and differences in raw ingredients/finished samples especially by taste, smell and color perception.
