CAE USA INC Training Development Manager in Montreal (St. Laurent), Canada

About This Role

The Training Development Manager, reporting to the Senior Training Development Manager, oversees the complete project management and development lifecycle for the implementation of strategic courseware and highly complex, large-scale global courseware business initiatives. You will also directly manage multiple courseware developers and support project managers to deliver courseware training materials.

The role we are offering you:

  • Manager duties include:

  • Responsible to implement courseware training strategies

  • Manage development process in line with industry standards and innovation team in order to bring the best training value for customers

  • Lead a team of Instructional System Designers (ISDs), courseware developers (CWD), multimedia developers (MMD), Editors and Systems Integration Specialists (ESIS), and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the development of courseware projects

  • Align to all project lifecycle processes

  • Participate in setting courseware standards, including creation of manuals that document the courseware development guidelines and departmental processes

  • Manage the courseware personnel in order to maximize throughput & deliver a quality product throughout the globe

  • Identify and assign resources required to ensure all project commitments are met

  • Conduct team meetings to discuss team-related topics, provide priorities, and information

  • Participate in team scrums and weekly leader meetings

  • Conduct inter-departmental meetings on projects

  • Manage the supply chain for Courseware development

  • Manage relationships with outsourcing partners and ensures contractors adhere to CAE contract standards

  • Responsible for providing estimated level of effort during bids process and interacting with third party vendor for development effort.

  • Responsible for ensuring governance of the financials and budgets of the courseware projects and participate in governance meetings, and tracking variances

  • Responsible for developing the talent pipeline:

  • leads all employee management activities, such as performance evaluation via Talent Compass process, annual salary review, training, coaching, and development plans

  • Provide hiring recommendations, conduct interviews, as required

  • Provides coaching/mentoring and guidance to junior leaders

  • Review OfficeVibe metrics and ensure alignment to objectives

  • Portfolio Management includes:

  • Responsible for monitoring cost, schedule, scope and quality of the assigned projects

  • Reviews and approves project schedules and work plans for assigned resources

  • Reviews and approves all budget allocations for all projects

  • Ensures conformance to all IP management rules and guidelines by team members

  • Works with Project Managers to identify and evaluate project risks, issues, mitigation, and identifies and maximizes return from opportunities

  • Monitor project priorities and negotiates priorities with competing projects as required

  • Resolves project work/scheduling problems by reprioritizing activities and working collaboratively with Project Managers

  • Reviews project performance against milestones and budget

  • Supports technical, cost and schedule aspects of proposals

  • Ensure compliance with project standards and CAE Policy / Process - works with regulatory department to ensure understanding of new regulations and ensure that these are incorporated into courseware

  • Reports project status and health to Technology and Training Solutions leadership and business stakeholders

  • Works with all other courseware business units to ensure best practices are leveraged and all courseware standards are adhered to

    Our ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any field. Master’s degree or MBA a plus

  • Minimum of 3-5years’ management experience, aviation and courseware a plus

  • Experience in working with Training and Development teams and delivering training products to global audiences

  • Strong understanding of business management, financial, and leadership principles

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills

  • Demonstrable experience of working and communicating with various levels, both within and outside the company, including senior management, technical staff, and end users.

  • High-level attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills

  • Strong analytical, facilitation and problem-solving skills, identify problems and trends, and develop effective solutions and strategies

  • Strong knowledge of financials and KPIs, reporting project status to senior management

  • Experience working with global and multi-cultural teams

  • Experience managing consultants and suppliers, negotiating SOW and contracts

  • Experience developing strong customer relationships and managing customer expectations

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodology
