Atlantic Health System Medical Office Associate I, AMG Womens Heart Program, Per Diem in Morristown, New Jersey

Accountabilities:

  • Skills: Demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required in order to serve a diverse customer base.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the following, but not limited to: patient registration, appointments, scheduling, arrival appointments, EMR phone notes, indexing documents within EMR, telephone etiquette. Required Licensure, Certification

  • Prior experience working in a medical practice, customer service field, or administrative office setting. Medical Office Specialist II = 2 + years of experience in same or similar role.

  • Experience with reports and additional office functions. Machines, Tools, Equipment: Must operate standard office machines and equipment such as photocopiers, PC, fax, scanner, general office and communications equipment.

  • Makes appropriate decisions, using available resources, to achieve positive outcomes for patients, visitors, and staff in balance with sound business practice.

  • General oversight of front desk operations; resource to other Medical Office Specialists Problem Solving: Appointment Entry, E-mail, Insurance proficiency, cash collection and any additional training required Schedules, reschedules and cancels patient appointments and procedures within the department. Performs down-time procedures and take necessary actions.

  • Overtime and the use of staff sharing at other work locations may be required.

  • Phone Coverage: Answer, handle, phone calls in a timely and efficient manner. Utilize appropriate telephone etiquette.

  • Scheduling: Using general scheduling guidelines appropriately schedule patient appointments selecting appropriate visit type/length of visit.

  • May be required to schedule meetings for physicians.

  • Registration: Greets patient promptly upon arrival to practice.

  • Accurately collects and documents time of-service payments.

Required:

High school diploma or GED equivalent

Preferred:

  • prior experience in an office setting, medical practice or other medical office

    • Experience managing reporting, surgical scheduling, managing authorizations and referrals, maintaining adequate supply inventory
  • Bachelor degree preferred

  • Knowledge: expert level knowledge computer systems.

  • Knowledge regarding medical terminology, insurance, Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.
