Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Steel Global Commodity Manager to oversee the sourcing and procurement of raw materials, fabricated steel structures, and coatings for manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in steel fabrication, coatings, welding inspection, and supply chain management. This role requires strong knowledge of market indices, distribution, and manufacturing support strategies to ensure cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery. Additionally, this role will be responsible for supplier management, expediting schedules, and interfacing with estimating and sales teams to provide cost estimates during the sales cycle.Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for steel raw materials, fabricated steel structures, chutes, slides, and conveying equipment. Identify and manage suppliers for coatings of steel components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and quality expectations. Evaluate supplier capabilities for standard welding processes, conducting inspections to ensure weld quality and adherence to American Welding Society (AWS) standards. Oversee coating quality inspections for liquid and powder coatings, ensuring proper application of industrial protective coatings. (NACE or SSPC Level 2 CIP certification recommended.) Monitor and analyze market indices and industry trends to inform procurement decisions and cost management. Establish and manage distribution networks to support manufacturing operations within the warehousing and parcel industries. Implement supply chain strategies for raw material procurement, including stock management, safety stock planning, just-in-time (JIT) deliveries, and distribution solutions. Develop strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts and driving cost-saving initiatives while maintaining high-quality standards. Manage supplier performance, track and expedite schedules, and ensure on-time delivery to meet production timelines. Interface with estimating teams to conduct cost analysis and forecasting for future estimates in the sales cycle. Oversee and support existing projects within sales, ensuring alignment with company goals and operational efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering and manufacturing to optimize supply chain efficiency and support production goals.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (preferred). A combination of education and directly relevant work experience may be considered. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred. Proven experience in sourcing and procurement of steel raw materials and fabricated components. Expertise in welding processes and quality inspections, with AWS CWI certification preferred. Proficiency in assessing and inspecting industrial coatings, with NACE or SSPC Level 2 CIP training recommended. Strong understanding of market indices, material distribution, and supply chain for manufacturing facilities. Experience with inventory management, stock control, and distribution solutions for manufacturing operations. Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with suppliers, internal teams, and stakeholders.The base salary range for this role is $100,700 to $151,100. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position.
